Loved the presentation and the atmosphere in the 'speak easy' room.
Our staff was nothing short of incredible.
They do NOT split tabs so not a friendly restaurant option for group meals/work meals.
Food was good. The ribs were perfection and everyone loved them.
Pro Tip: call ahead and make a reservation just to make sure they have space and staff ready to greet you. -

Everything about this experience was perfect. The food, service, and atmosphere. Somehow the restaurant manages to simultaneously capture the essence of fine dining while avoiding any hint of unnecessary frills or pretentiousness. It is a classic in every sense of the word.
Yes, there is a dress code, but I actually wish this was more common. I miss the idea of dressing for dinner and it's nice to see it remaining a custom in some special places.
My husband and I both had the gulf fish topped with crab. It was cooked and flavored absolutely perfectly - some of the best seafood I've had! It was so smooth and buttery (but not oily/greasy.) We shared a side of augratin potatoes and shared bread pudding (of course, with cafe au lait!) for dessert.
Our server was a doll and actually talked us out of two sides of potatoes, saying one was big enough to share. I love a good "down sell" haha! -

Another Restaurant with a Dress code, but a much different feel than Galatoire's.
The dress code here is loose, in term of enforcement and I'm sure when they have busier nights they probably enforce it more but this place is HUGE.
As our service described it like over 10 dining rooms, private and larger public one. The whole place is a museum of sorts collecting picture and memorabilia from famous and important diners over the years.
The restaurant also has a great menu and best valued menu throughout the year. A lady told us that the cost of their prix fixe menu is based on the year. So for us, $20.19 for a 3 course meal. Lovely options, and a great experience with our wait staff. Again in comparison to Galatoire's the server asked us about bread after we finished out first one. And it need to be said the French Bread everyone has been fantastic.
For Me: Grilled Oysters (x3), Cold Steak Salad, & Bread Pudding
For my Wife: Cucumber Watermelon Salad, Fried Chicken w/ Mac & Cheese and Collard Greens and Lemon Tart.
Oysters as good as ACME, Steak was a little tough, but I chose this in anticipation that there was more fried food and beignets the rest of the way in my Vacay, and bread pudding was a bit denser but still very tasty.
My wife enjoyed everything as well. The fried chicken was crispy, sweet, and with a kick. Tart was also bright and delicious.
After the meal we explored the many dining rooms as recommended. Our server also let us know there was access to the balconies for Photo Ops. -

3 stars for great service and rich history. Tried the Coolinary. Food was just alright. Oysters were good but the shrimp remoulade wasn't. Bread pudding was good. 25c cocktails is a TON of sugar/too.
Highly recommend to walk around the restaurant and visit wine cellar and see all the fab dining rooms of the restaurant, very impressive. -

Great New Orleans original! We stopped in for brunch with the jazz band playing. Started with the Ramos Gin Fizzes...made perfectly! Had the potato soufflé fries, escargot for starters. Grits and grillades - juicy and tender, fried drum almandine was yummy and Oeufs Benedict were poached to perfection. So much history one has to take the tour of the Rex, Proteus and Escargot rooms just to name a few.
Richard was an excellent server- very knowledgeable about the menu and was glad to point out his favorites.
